Prof. Nachiappan Subramanian

Professor Nachiappan Subramanian (Nachi) has 24 years of experience including 22 years in academia and 2 years in a consulting company. He is Professor of Operations and Logistics Management at the University of Sussex Business School. He is the Fellow of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) UK. Nachi has been recognised for his research and teaching excellence, to date he has published more than 101 peer reviewed refereed journal articles. His research areas are sustainable supply chains (environmental and social/humanitarian issues), risk and resilience, technology enabled operations and marketing interface, and performance measurement.

On the teaching front, Nachi is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. Nachi authored a book on the title "Blockchain and Supply Chain Logistics: Evolutionary Case Studies (ISBN 9783030475307)" along with Chaudhri A, Kayıkcı Y published by Palgrave McMillan. Nachi edited a popular book on the topic "Supply chain management in the big data era" published by IGI Global, Hershey, USA( ISBN 9781522509561) along with Hing Kai Chan and Muhammad Abdulrahman. His second one was with IGI Global on the topic "Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing in hyper customised era" along with SG Ponnambalam, MK Tiwari and WA Wan Yusoff.

His writing on emerging topics has received several hits including his media article on delivery drones published by China Daily and LSE Business Review blog on Social media and successful retail operations in the hyper-customisation era. Nachi has a versatile teaching experience in several countries including UK, China, India and Australia. In addition, Nachi has a rich executive education experience either taught or convened modules in Victoria & Albert Museum Master Class and China High Speed Rail international talent development programme.



Blockchain and Supply Chain Logistics: Research Opportunities.

Vignette: The purpose of this talk is to trace the information technology evolution and blockchain's impact on supply chain. Overall, the talk will enhance the understanding on potential research issues in supply chain, the status quo of blockchain applications and its limitations with the prescription of suitable theories and methods. Finally, the chapter concludes with open research questions. At the end of this session you will be able to: (i) Understand the research opportunities in blockchain from supply chain perspective. (ii) Compare and contrast blockchain applications and limitations. (iii) List the major research questions in blockchain enabled digital supply chain.
