More than 50% of the graduates around the world say that they were unhappy with their chosen field of study. According to McKinsey, on current trends, the global economy could face a potential surplus of 90 million to 95 million low skill workers and a shortage of about 38 to 40 million high skilled workers by 2020. Despite the population dividend and steady supply of labor force in India, employers struggle to fill the position.

As per Manpower group, 56 percentage of employers in India find it difficult in filling the jobs. The top talent shortage was noticed in the field of sales, project management, accounting and finance, and management executive. Among the top drivers which attribute to the shortage is the lack of hard skills and experience. As per the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM), India has 5500 B-Schools, but 7% of the passouts are employable.

Against this backdrop, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is going to organize the HR Summit 2019 to debate, discuss and identify the whys and wherefores of the situation and identify how to bridge the gap between management education and employment. The summit will be held at IIMK campus in the God’s own country, Kerala during August 17-18, 2019.
