Prof. Samir K Srivastava is a Professor in Operations Management Area at IIM Lucknow (India). He is an undergraduate in Electrical Engineering from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (now IIT BHU) and an MBA in Finance. He received his doctorate from IIM Lucknow in 2004. He has over three decades of experience in research, teaching, training, consulting and industry. He worked in various positions in AV Birla Group in technical and management roles. He was an internal facilitator for TPM implementation at Indo Gulf Corporation leading it to win the TPM Excellence Award from JIPM Japan in the year 2000. He also held various academic administrative positions at IIM Lucknow including Dean (Research). Prof. Samir has designed, developed, and taught courses at both post graduate and doctoral levels. He has conducted on-campus and in-company training programs for government, public sector and corporate executives. This includes a series of International Training Programs on World Bank’s New Procurement Framework. He has founded South Asia's first public procurement observatory. During his long career, he has carried out many funded research projects and policy-shaping consulting assignments. His list of sponsors, clientele and partners include UKIERI, EPSRC, ESF, FWF, NWO, MDTF, University of Cambridge, University of Hull, University of Cincinnati, The World Bank, Transparency International, Competition Commission of India, DST, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Bureau of Indian Standards, Kolkata Port Trust, MRVC, CII, AIMA, SCOPE, LMA, Aditya Birla Group, TCI, Tata Motors and Indian Army.

Prof. Samir is a prolific researcher and a highly cited academic who works mainly in the areas of sustainable supply chains, reverse logistics and public procurement. He has published many papers in reputed refereed academic journals and has co-authored two books. He serves on the Editorial Board of several International Journals and has been Chief Editor of Metamorphosis, an AJG 2021 listed journal. Prof. Samir figures among the top 2% scientists in the world based on career-long impact in the "Author databases of standardized citation indicators" lists 2020, 2021 and 2022. He has been member of TPM Club of India (CII), Technical Advisory Group (TAG), National Agricultural Innovation Project (Research on Production to Consumption Systems) and Sub-committee for Manufacturing Competitiveness, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is a life member of Society of Operations Management. He is a member of the Scholarship Committee of the $ 2 million IIT (BHU) Foundation Access Fund. Prof. Samir has been bestowed with many recognitions and awards. These include four Best Paper awards, Emerald/IAM Indian Management Research Fund Award 2015 and Prof. Manubhai M. Shah Memorial Award for Excellence in Commerce and Business Management (MMSMA) 2015.
