Ms. Anjuri Singh Thakur started her entrepreneurial venture of TMK Agro-Products after spending more than nine years of experience in IT and Telecom domain as an Operations Manager. MBA from IIM Kozhikode gave her a new perspective of doing things differently. The journey from an IT professional to an entrepreneur with a vision to work on Eco-friendly products and waste management. This has motivated her to bring change in society by empowering women, thus supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She has received "Sustainability Award 2019" from Econaur, Ekam Eco Solutions and AGIS for her outstanding contribution for environment improvement and saving precious resources in Organic product sector. She played a significant role in creating awareness about Banana Fibre Processing and Products and used it for making Handicrafts, Paper, organic textile and Sanitary pads. Her entrepreneur venture recognized the value and potential of the banana plant post-harvest. This initiative provided additional income as well as additional employment opportunity to the poor farming community including participation of women from rural India. Her start-up was instrumental in reducing the solid waste from her village, as the banana fibre can now be used for alternative purpose instead of disposal as solid waste. Her organization further demonstrated the utility of post-production waste or slug material as organic fertilizer in farms with rich nutrition value for soil. These initiative provided additional income to the farmers, in-addition reduced their dependence of chemical fertilizers. She has helped farmers to connect with various organisations who need fibre as raw material to make finished products like handicrafts and paper. She has also helped IIT students in their research on banana fibre processing for the organic textile manufacturing process. As an entrepreneur she has a vision to make the country aware of the potential a Banana plant carries in various domains like health, hygiene, handicrafts, soundproofing, paper etc.
