Dr. Rangarajan Report on Poverty Line The number of India's poor may rise by 100 million if the recommendations of the C Rangarajan committee on poverty are accepted by the government. The Rangarajan committee, which has retained consumption expenditure as the basis for determining poverty, has pegged the total number of poor in the country at 363 million or 29.6 per cent of the population. |
